Dog Boarding Facility

Welcome to Almost Home Boarding and Grooming, our kennel here at University Parkway Animal Hospital!  We are proud to offer one of the largest boarding kennels in Winston-Salem.  Our dog boarding kennel is completely indoors and climate-controlled.  The kennel building is well-ventilated and features tall ceilings, windows, and skylights.  Each dog enjoys their own personal kennel run, separated from their neighbor by tall privacy divider walls.  The kennel runs are open and spacious and do not have ceilings, so animals feel comfortable and enjoy a roomy environment.  We offer three different sizes of boarding runs:  The Presidential Suite (for large and giant breed dogs), The Concord Room (for medium sized dogs), and The Red Woof Inn (for small and petite dogs). 

All of our boarding dogs enjoy a minimum of two personal leash walks per day.  Additional walks and playtime are offered for each dog, so you have the ability to customize your pet’s boarding plan. We have a spacious grassy exercise yard that is fenced-in and gated, and this is where we walk all of the dogs.  Boarding dogs also have the option of grooming services including baths and nail trims.  

At Almost Home Boarding and Grooming, we provide food and bedding for boarding animals.  We use Hill’s Science Diet Adult chicken and rice dry food.  If you’d like to provide food or other accessories for your pet, you may.

All dogs entering the boarding facility must be current on yearly vaccinations including rabies, distemper/parvo, bordetella, and must be negative on an intestinal parasite screening within the past six months.  Puppies must be at least 12 weeks of age and have completed at least two series of distemper/parvo vaccinations.  Puppies must also have a current bordetella vaccine and a negative intestinal parasite screening.

We encourage you to book your boarding reservation in advance, especially around busy holiday times.

Cat Condominium Boarding

At Almost Home Boarding and Grooming, our feline guests board in kitty condos, separate from our dog boarding facility. 

Each cat enjoys a two-sided condo with perches on each side.  We provide food in the form of Hill’s Science Diet Adult chicken and rice dry food.  We also provide each cat with a litter box, kitty litter, and bedding.  If you’d like to provide your cat with food and accessories from home, you may, however we ask that you allow us to provide the litter box and kitty litter. 

Every day our kitty boarders enjoy watching a video that features nature scenes and sounds, such as birds, squirrels, and fish.

All cats boarding in our kitty condos must be current on yearly vaccines including rabies, RCP (feline distemper), and negative on an intestinal parasite screening within the past six months.  Kittens must be at least 12 weeks of age and have completed two series of RCP vaccinations, and must also be negative on an intestinal parasite screening.
